Cradle

Before Nolan was born, my mom made a beautiful cradle for him to sleep in. He hasn't really slept in it for a while now (he is in his crib in his own room), but occasionally I sit him in it while I need to do things in our room or just grab a few minutes in the bathroom by myself. You can tell he has definitely out grown it now, because instead of lying there peacefully like he use to, I now find him like this:

3 things he loves about this cradle now:
1. pulling himself up on the side rails.
2. looking at himself in the mirror.
3. trying to rip the mirror off the wall...

Cake Class - Pt. 2

Here is the last cake I made in the second part of the cake class I'm taking. It is an oval cake with rope border, basket weave on the sides, and flowers on top that cascade down the side. I made all of the flowers myself! The picture doesn't do it justice, but I'm pretty proud :)

Sippy Cup

Now that Nolan is a grown-up 7 month old, we have been trying to get him to drink out of a "sippy" cup. So far we haven't had much luck... I don't think he knows quite what to do with the cup yet. He mostly tries to chew on it. Hopefully he will get the hang of it soon!

Wrong end Buddy...

Check out the cool name label thing our friend Lynsie made! It's got Virginia Tech print on one side and Nolan's name on the other! It slips right onto the sippy cup so we can keep track of which cup is his when there are other kids around. Good work Lynsie!

New Food

Nolan has been eating lots of solid foods lately, which means he gets to taste lots of new things. He usually ends up liking them, but he makes some great faces. Here is a video of his first taste of pea's:

"hmm. What's this? Interesting... AHH! Yuck! I swallowed. That's gross!"

If I had to guess, that's what I would say Nolan was thinking. I thought his reaction was pretty funny. I can't say that I blame him for making those faces. I don't really like pea's myself. But he must have gotten used to the taste because he finished off the entire jar!

Spring Break!

A week ago I had a week off from school. As I mentioned before we took the time to go to the beach (Corolla of the Outer Banks) for a few days with some friends from college. The weather was absolutely perfect - mid 70's and sunny every day! We stayed in a beautiful house that had everything you could ever possibly want, and got to spend some great time with old friends. Overall it was a great trip! I think Nolan enjoyed his first trip to the beach for the most part.

Things he liked:
- being outside
- playing with Peyton (almost 2 year old)
- eating sand
- taking naps on the beach
- getting lots of attention

Things he didn't like:
- how bright the sun was
- when I wouldn't let him eat the sand
- the cold water
- sleeping in late

Here are some pictures from our trip!

More About Easter...

Sorry it has been such a long time since the last post. It has been a crazy week!

On the last post I gave you a little glimpse of how cute Nolan was on Easter morning. I have to say I got really excited to get him dressed up in his khaki's and sweater vest. He sure was cute (if I do say so myself)! Here are some more pictures from Easter Sunday...

Checking out the Easter basket first thing in the morning:

I guess it was too early in the morning for him to be impressed =P

NOW he's having a good time...

Thanks to everyone who contributed to his Easter basket!

Here is a family shot:

This Easter was especially good to us. We got to go to church and worship our CREATOR who died on the CROSS for us, and Who CONQUERED DEATH so that we might have ETERNAL LIFE! At church we also got to here Jack share his testimony! He did a GREAT job of sharing all that the Lord has done in his life (which was impressive since we all know there is a bigger than normal crowd at church on Easter Sunday). Way to go Jack!

After church we missed getting to spend time with our families. If you are reading this we love you and hope to see you and spend some quality time together soon! Why did we miss family time you ask? Well, because right after church we left to go to the BEACH! More on that to come in the next post... :)

Happy Easter!

Just wanted to wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER! Wish we could celebrate with you, but after church today we are off to the BEACH for a few days! Happy Spring break to me :)

I'll post more pictures when we get back!
