Pumpkin Patch

There are a lot of things I love about Autumn - the leaves change, Hokie football, apple cider, the weather gets cooler - just to name a few. But perhaps one of the best things about fall, or at least the best traditions, is going to the pumpkin patch! This past weekend we took our annual trip to Westermoreland Berry Farm with some friends. Nolan seemed to enjoy it more this year than he did last year. Here are a few pictures of our trip!

This is us last year (2009):

Same spot in 2010 (look how much he's grown!

Cutest little pig face ever:

Riding on the wagon to get to the pumpkin patch (Nolan loved this, but he gets to do stuff like this all the time when he visits Meemaw and Pops at the farm!):

LOVE these boys :)

Jean Jumper

Earlier this week Nolan was wearing a pair of overalls, but the snaps on the bottom wouldn't stay snapped. By the time I picked him up from the babysitter she had given up on keeping them closed, so he was essentially wearing a jean jumper. I thought it was pretty funny, so I took a picture... I told him he looked like an elementary school teacher. He didn't seem to mind :)

Side note: notice he is still fascinated with playing with the mop (and his shadow)!

Future Pole Vaulter?

I'm not sure if this is normal for little boys or not, but Nolan REALLY likes carrying around things that are pole-like (recall the post from a few months ago about him carrying around the table leg?). I can't really figure out why he likes these things - He doesn't really do much with them other than wave them around in the air and accidentally smack Boomer in the head with them (it wouldn't surprise me if Boomer ended up with a concussion because of that boy). It's kind of funny when he tries to bring these pole-like objects into another room and can't figure out how why they won't fit horizontally through a door. He gets so frustrated! But anyway, here are just a few of the pole-like things he's found to carry around this past week:

(a long handle that attaches to paint rollers or shop brooms)

(a water wand for the garden - in case you are wondering, this does not normally stay in our laundry room. Nolan found it outside and brought it in a while back so it has just been living in there for now)

(a mop and a broom from the garage)

(another broom from the garage)

(a mop from the bathroom and a golf club)

This is only a glimpse of the things Nolan has gotten ahold of. I can't even count how many times I have seen him appear in a room with the broom in his hand. Tonight he even tried bringing the broom in the bath tub with him. We try to baby proof our house. We really do! The toilet plunger now stays on top of the dresser in our bedroom because it's the only place high enough that Nolan couldn't reach it or climb on something to get to it. Is it normal for children to enjoy these things this much? If only I could get him to use them properly. Then we'd be in business!

mmm... Mac and Cheese

Not a whole lot of exciting things going on in the Donohoe house these days (hence the blog hiatus)... so I'll just post about Nolan's dinner. He's been really enjoying macaroni and cheese these days - a boy after my own heart. I think part of me makes him mac and cheese mostly because I want to eat the leftovers, but it helps that he seems to like it! Here are a few pictures of Nolan enjoying this tasty dinner.

Nolan apparently decided he would save some macaroni and cheese in his pocket for later:

(I lost my camera for a few days but now it's back and I promise I'll try to do a better job of taking pictures - because everyone knows a blog is more exciting when there are pictures to go along with it! Honestly it probably doesn't matter what I write about anyway - after all a picture is worth a thousand words. I'll just let Nolan do the talking through his pictures :)
